Today's episode focuses on the storied history of Capitol Records. Founded in 1942 by Johnny Mercer, Buddy DeSylva and Glenn E. Wallichs (of Wallichs Music City), it was the first West Coast record label of note. The iconic building in the center of Hollywood has been referenced as "the house that Nat (King Cole) built."
Its roster has also included Frank Sinatra, The Andrews Sisters, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Tina Turner. The record company has a great story and amazing music to share.
