Show Notes
Host Manny Pacheco presents one of the forgotten members of Hollywood Royalty, all with ties to motion picture music scores. Ernest Gold was a celebrated composer, his wife Marni Nixon worked as a ghost-singer for featured actresses in musicals, and son Andrew Gold wrote hit records (one of which ended up as the intro for an iconic television show).
Marni Nixon remained invisible to the public because movie studios wanted their female stars to receive all the attention. They included Deborah Kerr, Natalie Wood, and Audrey Hepburn. The actors fought back to make sure Nixon was given the credit she so richly deserved. It is a remarkable story!
